FFIEC Guidance Appendix J released on February 6, 2015 is all about process and procedure to strengthen business resilience for outsourced technology services, but does not cover any issues about determining whether your vendor’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is effective. Guidance points out that it’s something that the institution must do as a part of its vendor due diligence. But there’s way more to it than just meeting Return to Operational (RTO) times.

This course picks up where Guidance leaves off and gives you the tools you need to determine whether the vendor’s BCP is feasible even if they won’t give you their BCP.

The areas of study within this course include:

    1. FFIEC Guidance Requirements for a BCP
    2. Benefits of Ensuring That Your Vendor's BCP Is Sound
    3. Feasibility Analysis of the Vendor's BCP:
      • Purpose and Objective
      • Components of the Plan
      • Adequacy of Risk Mitigation Strategies
      • Geographic Diversity
      • Policies, Standards and Processes
      • Training of Personnel
      • Alternatives for Independent Components and Stakeholders
      • Maintaining the Plan
      • Auditor Involvement

    4. Identification of Single Points of Failure (SPOF)
    5. Test Plan Objectives
    6. Outsourcing the Business Continuity Function (DR Site Outsource)
    7. "What if" Scenarios

    Who should take this course?

Vendor management staff, IT staff, COO, CIO, BCP/DR team and compliance and risk staff at your credit union.
